Investment and Underwriting team
Origination, underwriting and capital structuring.
Our firm
There are two kinds of investment operation. Those that harvest beta — systematic, market-correlated returns. And those that manufacture alpha — asymmetric returns that cannot be explained by exposure to broad market factors.
The firm in plain terms
GDP exists to do one thing: construct and capture alpha. One hundred per cent of the firm — its people, its capabilities, its system — is committed to that. We find situations where an asset is priced by its circumstances rather than its worth, underwrite precisely why the gap exists and what it will take to close it, and then close it with our own people.
The firm is built for that job end to end. Situations are sourced privately, through relationships. Each is underwritten against one discipline before capital is committed. Four investment focus areas give the work its defined and proven playbooks; fourteen core capabilities, held in-house, give it predictable and reliable execution; and the C.A.P.T.U.R.E system holds the whole portfolio to account. Nothing about the model is passive — the capital returns we make are constructed, situation by situation, and captured systematically.
The central question
Who is on the other side of this trade, and what constraints are they facing?
What asymmetries are in our favour that allow us to exploit those constraints?
GDP has significant deal flow of distressed and special situations. Our entire alpha capture strategy is selecting those opportunities where the seller and the asset is facing maximum constraints, and where we have matching asymmetries of information, relationships and internal capacity to resolve those constraints.
The firm
The people who underwrite a situation and the people who resolve it sit together. Four investment focus areas and one set of core capabilities execute the work from acquisition to realisation, governed and reported in one system.
